George Kolliou

George Kolliou, formerly principal of Kolliou Tax Lawyers, has worked in the taxation field for over 30 years, firstly as an accountant and then as a lawyer. George's special area of interest is the intersection of taxation and trust law particularly in the SME context. 

George's aim is to provide sound and practical tax advice to lawyers, accountants, financial planners and their clients. His practice areas include income tax, CGT, GST, stamp duty, land tax and payroll tax, in both advisory and dispute resolution matters. 

Some of George's professional highlights include:

• Instructing in the first GST case to go to the High Court of Australia;

• Successfully representing taxpayers in disputes with the ATO and the State Revenue Office;

• Advising on complex CGT Concessions where the advice stood up to ATO scrutiny.

George regularly presents at tax conferences on SME taxation issues and writes for various professional journals. He has also co-authored the Australian Trusts Tax Handbook published by Thomson Reuters.

Andrea Carrick

Andrea has over 15 years experience advising SMEs and high net worth individuals in all areas of taxation including income tax, CGT, GST and state taxation matters. She advises both corporate and private family businesses across a wide range of industries, focusing on complex business restructuring, commercial transactions and estate and succession planning. Andrea has a wealth of experience liaising in and negotiating with the ATO and State Revenue Offices on behalf of clients in relation to audits and investigations, objections and private ruling applications. 

Andrea has a keen focus on Superannuation, particularly in respect of Self-Managed Superannuation Funds. She has extensive experience advising SMSF trustees and their advisers in regulatory and compliance matters and maximising opportunities for members with the intersection of the Small Business CGT Concessions and Superannuation. Andrea recognises the value of practical advice and is passionate about making these complex areas user friendly and accessible to clients.  

Andrea is a regular presenter for the Television Education Network, Legalwise Seminars and CPA Discussion Groups.

Genevieve Bird

Genevieve Bird (Gen) is our efficient and friendly Office Manager. Genevieve has extensive experience working in both the legal and accounting industry, providing general and legal secretarial support, as well as attendances in procedural matters, and lodgements and compliance. Before joining our team, Genevieve worked as an executive assistant at a busy boutique chartered accounting firm.

Genevieve handles all our administrative and invoicing enquiries. She also operates our Trust Deed department and assists George and Andrea in a range of matters. Please contact Genevieve for all your trust deed needs.
